art :: it's for the birds
Fellow Etsian, Joe Papendick makes these cool sculptural bird feeders out of hand forged steel and other metals.He then applies a chemical to the metal to bring out it's natural aged patina and color. I'm sure all the birds would be a twitter if I planted one of these in my garden. I know I would!

art :: amazing pink chewing gum sculptures
For over ten years, Italian artist Maurizio Savini has dared to go where no other artist has gone before - into his own mouth, chewing little squishy squares of double bubble gum (and other brands) and transforming the chewed wads into life size sculptures. The pink bazooka figures have taken off too - some selling for as much as $55,000 in the US. From prickly porcupines to terrified businessmen, Savini's amazing chewing gum figures have enjoyed high praise from art critics and gum chewers alike, in exhibitions throughout the world.

Amazing what you can do with an innocent stick of pink chewing gum - it's JUST COOL!

art:: toilet paper faces
I bet just about every frugal person thinks about what they can do with empty toilet paper rolls. Well, here's what. Use them to make head sculptures.
Jacquet Fritz Junior does it, and does it well too! From these lowly brown cardboard tubes emerge gnarly faces full of life and expression. These paper sculptures are JUST COOL, aren't they? (Makes me want to go into the bathroom and spin all the paper off the roll so I can try one! )

travel :: a secret garden
I love secret gardens! Although this one may not be so secret anymore, it is filled with all the magic and enchantment you would expect to find in such a lush green hideaway. Hidden among the trees of the small Victorian village of Marysville in Australia, it is a world full of fantasy, beauty and whimsy. It's creator, Bruno Torf has lovingly sculpted, gardened and built one of the world's most unique and deeply inspiring experiences for art and garden lovers of all ages.
The luscious sub-alpine forests of the surrounding area made an ideal setting for Bruno's plan and luckily the property he purchased had a large section of rain forest attached. Bruno's Art & Sculpture Garden began with just fifteen life sizes terracotta sculptures, and today boasts over one hundred and fifteen pieces on display, with Bruno continually adding new pieces. A gallery that houses over 200 of his creations brought over from Europe includes oil paintings, sketches and smaller sculptures. The unique experience of the garden and its wondrous inhabitants attracts thousands of visitors a year.
I would love to visit this place, wouldn't you? It's JUST COOL!

ebay :: this weeks fav listing
Let's call him Arthur. So cute he has a personality all his own! This very cool and funky old bird sculpture for the garden was made from an old spade and various metal tool parts then painted in bright colors. I picked him up at a yard sale and he has all the excellent age, rust and wear that you need to add to your garden your porch, by your back door - wherever! Arthur measures 16 inches high and has great weathered patina from hanging outside over the many years!
WHAT A FIND!! YA GOTTA HAVE HIM!
you can bid on Arthur here if you'd like
He's JUST COOL!
