transport :: the green car pandas love to eat

Taking green to an edible level, edible for hungry pandas that is, this cute single seater bamboo-made electrical car called the "BamGoo" was on display in Kyoto city this Sunday, delighting many curious onlookers. No pandas were in attendance. The 60-kg ecologically-friendly concept car was developed by the city and Kyoto University, and features bamboo ware technology. The car can run for some 50 kilometers or 30 miles on a single charge. Cool huh?

transportation :: Neil Young- go and say goodbye to the gas hog

Neil Young and 1959 Lincoln Continental car photo

Neil Young isn't just a Rock Icon, he's a tinkerer too. His current project is turning a nearly 20-foot-long, 5,000-pound badass 1959 Lincoln Continental into a vehicle that will run on natural gas, electricity or some other form of clean energy. Like a lot of other energy concious tinkerers Young is entering this big white beast in the Progressive Insurance Automotive X-Prize challenge to win $10 million. The goal is to get a car that can get 100 miles per gallon or better by running on clean fuels — electric batteries or natural gas. Why his 1959 Lincoln Continental and not a lighter more aerodynamic car? Because it's Neil's favorite, and the "craziest and most out-there design that American automobile manufacturers have come up with".

Young has teamed up with motorhead messiah Johnathon Goodwin and his team known for their modifications of big cars into high-mileage, high-horsepower, clean-burning vehicles to show the world how even a mammoth auto like Young's Link Volt can run efficiently on clean energy. Check out Lincvolt.

transportation :: a modern day gypsy

The Tonke Camper van
A mini home on wheels, the Tonke Camper isn't just your run of the mill mold injected RV. It's a throwback to an era of fine handmade craftsmanship. Inspired by gypsy caravans and classic yachts of old, this cool camper van is part monster truck, and part little house on the prairie. Tonke campers are the brainchild of a Dutch documentary film-maker named Maarten Van Soest. Each is hand-built in the village of Wagenberg Netherlands.

The nifty little home on wheels is constructed with all quality materials including porcelain sink, stainless steel fixtures and glowing teak wood accoutrements. In fact it looks like the inside of a yacht, doesn't it? With a shower, toilet and kitchenette on board, the Tonke is designed for camping in the wild and is fully self sufficient. The camper unit can be lifted off the van chassis in 15 minutes, allowing it to go solo as a self-contained guest house, office or mini house.

green - hemp and ford exposed

Was Henry Ford ahead of his time in renewable energy and sustainable design? In 1941 he recognized the utility of the hemp plant, and constructed a car of resin stiffened hemp fiber. He even ran the car on ethanol made from hemp! Ford knew that hemp could produce vast economic resources if widely cultivated.

When he told a New York Times reporter that ethyl alcohol was "the fuel of the future" in 1925, he was expressing an opinion that was widely shared in the automotive industry. "The fuel of the future is going to come from fruit like that sumach out by the road, or from apples, weeds, sawdust -- almost anything," he said. "There is fuel in every bit of vegetable matter that can be fermented. There's enough alcohol in one year's yield of an acre of potatoes to drive the machinery necessary to cultivate the fields for a hundred years."
Take a look at this interesting and entertaining video on Hemp - I didn't know all that!

This space ship is in excellent condition! Only 300 million Intergalactic miles, 4 passenger, no meteor dents, possibly needs reactor seals and recharged flux capacitor, 1 owner. Still have the original owners manual. Does have a wobble issue at Mach 12 but clears once it hits 15 not sure what that is but I lose the GPS screen for about a minute or so. Complete with bubble glass windows! Never crashed! For sale $3500 OBO. Clear title in hand, cash sale only, no trades and I won't take payments. Once it leaves the earth, I know you are not coming back so why would I??? DUH! It needs some TLC like an alignment and new landing sensors. Stored in a secure warehouse in Phx. Must sell City of Phx pressuring me, they say it's an eye sore?? It's on my front lawn and it's burnt the grass last year when it was running, I have the re entry burners turned up to kill the termites and scorpions when landing...

Car of the future? NOT ...

The Aptera, it's here now!
My son sent me this link this morning and I just had to put it on JUST COOL because it is...well...just cool! From USA TODAY "... a futuristic commuter car powered by electricity with a skin of epoxy resin, not sheet metal. And perhaps oddest, it has three wheels, not four. The Aptera, with a range of 190 miles between charges, is intended to sell for around $30,000."
Read more about the Aptera here at www.aptera.com

And watch the video here. A M A Z I N G ! The only question I have is, where does the
license plate go.

Oh, BTW, I've seen this ad all over the web and wonder if it really works. It claims to save you hundreds of dollars by running your car on water. Well if it works, it means its good for the environment too! Have you heard of it? >Click here to read about it and let me know what you think !
