It's amazing what lengths the willing staff of New York Magazine will go to to research their stuff. But I guess if the product is shoes? No wonder! They just had to find out if real women could actually walk in the mind blowing designs that graced the fall 2009 runway. The ladies of the Cut (and a few good-natured volunteers around the office) bravely laced, zipped, and strapped in for the little stroll.I wouldn't have predicted a bruise free outcome but these nimble ladies made it a catwalks length on these crazy shoes without a fall. The extreme collection included designers Dior, Galliano, Ricci, Rodarte, Leger, and more. Well now... Taxidermy Footwear ... a bit bizarre... but anything is fair game when it comes to shoe design.

A shoe phone. What started out as just a prop for a church camp drama presentation that had a "Get Smart" theme, has mushroomed into a popular "make it yourself" project for DIY geeks, since 32 year old Australian inventor, Paul Gardner-Stephen posted instructions on how to make it online. In a world filled with IPhones ,blackberries and blue tooth technology, a primitive novelty like Maxwell Smart's shoe phone may seem out of place, but the inventor emphasizes that it has it's practical applications too, like helping the elderly.Gardner-Stephen says the shoes could hold sensors to detect if a wearer falls, making them particularly useful in nursing homes and aging-care facilities.
Real shoes? Not! Look closer. These "shoes" are actually painted feet, masterfully painted in trompel’oeil style by artists John Maurad and Jenai Chinat for Temptu Paints.

What's this funny looking thing? It looks like an abandoned hamster wheel filled with miniature shoes but what it is is a Shoe Wheel. Raku developed this nifty space saving shoe storage on wheels for those of us who have little space to store our Imelda Marcos sized shoe collection. This cool wheel will store 30 pairs of shoes from spikey stilettos to everyday sneakers. The shoes are safely secured in their spot with an elastic band, making for a neat look and a quick and easy way to select your pair of shoes.
Inclement weather needn't put a crimp in your high heeled style. Remember Swims, that company that put the style in rubber galoshes? Now they offer these ingenious shoe covers called City Slipper that will shield your precious Pucci's from rain, mud and snow - keeping them clean and dry.

Question: what do donuts and flip flops have in common? Ask Krispy Kreme. This famous Donut Maker just broadened it's product line from delectible melt in your mouth donuts to the first live grass flip flops. These lush green sandals have soles that are made of living grass, each one has over 5000 blades to be exact!
But these high maintenence mini parks won't last long if you don't water them and they have a life expectancy of only about 4 months. They're being handed out as a promotion in London right now, so hurry and grab a pair - it might not be too late!
Theres nothing like walking barefoot on soft green grass -these are JUST COOL
