It's amazing what lengths the willing staff of New York Magazine will go to to research their stuff. But I guess if the product is shoes? No wonder! They just had to find out if real women could actually walk in the mind blowing designs that graced the fall 2009 runway. The ladies of the Cut (and a few good-natured volunteers around the office) bravely laced, zipped, and strapped in for the little stroll.I wouldn't have predicted a bruise free outcome but these nimble ladies made it a catwalks length on these crazy shoes without a fall. The extreme  collection included designers Dior, Galliano, Ricci, Rodarte, Leger, and more.

pets :: having a ball

Jerry is one lucky dog. His inventive master rigged up a JUST COOL ball machine that would keep the pooch company and excercised when he wasn't around. Bet Poppy Petunia wishes her mistress would be so smart.

Jerry's owner wrote,"I built the ball machine because I thought my dog Jerry, might like it and that it would be something fun for me to build. So after two years of on and off work, with many safety features such as IR proximity sensors to protect Jerry and my son from the machine, I finally complete.

Far from being a replacement for me, I was always right there with him enjoying his fun. And with all the troubles that I went through to build the ball machine, I still end up throwing more balls than that the machine could count! According to the computer, he played with the machine by himself only 3 times in his life.

I recently put this video on YouTube to keep alive my earlier memories of him and (hopefully) provide some "humorous distractions" for anyone that might drop by."

 

kids :: the drivers test

Yikes! Libs takes her drivers test today! One more step towards independence for my little girl. We have been practicing and practicing and my hair still stands on end when she's at the wheel. Don't get me wrong - she is a good driver - but no matter how I stress caution, patience, and DRIVE SLOWER, those words of advice don't seem to seep into that teenage brain of hers. Oh well...I guess we have to cut the apron strings sooner or later ... just not now ??? :(

Last week a skin and bones pooch got away with a five finger (er..paw) discount at Smith's Food and Drug. The furry canine who looks to be a husky mix or akita is now on the lam. 

Awww...give the dog the bone. It's Christmas! 

But I wonder why he didn't hit up his local Petsmart instead ?????

movies :: changes are coming

I was just checking out all the movie trailers on YouTube and found a few interesting ones I have never heard of. One of them, titled "Hatchiko, A Dog's Story", is about a man and his dog, starring Richard Gere. It's the touching and true tale of a man and his Akita dog in Japan and is a remake from the original movie made long time ago. In Tokyo's Shibuya Train Station, a brass statue of an Akita memorializes Japan's most beloved canine named Hachiko. Many fell in love with the real-life Hachiko, the devoted dog that became a fixture at that train station where he waited for almost a decade starting in the mid-1920s for his master's return. The movie follows this story. When Rebecca comes home this week with her Akita dog, Kismet, we will probably make our Thanksgiving pilgrimage to the movie theatre (we do this every year after the big feast, after all the theatres are practically empty on Thanksgiving day) and watch this movie. If I can find out where its playing, or IF it is playing.

Now this next movie trailer I checked out has me a little puzzled, looks a bit avant garde and a lot interesting. It stars such notables as William Shatner, Terry Thomas and Kasey Kasem. The description says that it took four decades to "create this American circus". The movie, titled Changes are Coming, is a satirical movie about America's final change, the change that takes us back to the days of Ancient Rome. From the trailer, it looks like it is about a circus with all sorts of clowns. But I really can't give you a synopsis on it - you're just going to have to watch the trailer for yourself, check out the website and make an opinion. I honestly don't know WHAT to make of it...

His teacher is a neighbor of my son and apparently she said he wrote,acted in and created this whole video himself and quick too which I find pretty amazing. Pretty funny and nerdy. Stephen Spielberg and Harry Potter - watch out!
