tableware :: minimal midcentury modern

Awww shucks - of course this neat item would be sold out but I have to show it to my readers anyway because what a JUST COOL concept!

Fantastic for a small space and something to drool over for you midcentury modern collectors, Avant Garde was designed by Helen von Boch in the early 1970s. Basically a set of stacking tableware for four persons that becomes a centerpiece for the  dining room, forming a ball in different colors (brown, white, red brown) when not in use. 19 pieces in total, including plates, side dishes and bowls in different sizes  and they are marked underneath each piece "Villeroy & Boch, avant garde, made in Germany".Unfortunately sold out at furniture love. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

technology :: LGs sweetest chocolate

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of LG Chocolate Touch. All opinions are 100% mine.

I've always been a fan of devices that have multi functions. They just make life simpler! So imagine having a cell phone that allows you to make calls, send texts, use the internet, use Social Media, take pictures or video, AND one that also has a music player with Dolby Mobile technology for crystal-clear sound quality? Well you don't have to dream about it any longer. Thanks to LG and it's new LG Chocolate Touch that does all those things and more. This little phone packs a whole lot of features into it that will put your present phone to shame - starting with Dolby Mobile technology featuring high frequency enhancer, natural bass, mobile sound and a customizable equalizer making listening to music almost as good as hearing it live! Plus it has great visual effects and features too, including Rhythmical Beat that vibrates the handset to the beat of the music, a one-touch Social Network Message Key for easy use of Mobile Blogging on popular social media websites like Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, etc.. And did I mention it's Mobile Media with top-notch text, picture, video, and voice messaging, including Visual Voicemail, and a sweet 3.2MP Camera/Recorder for quality pictures and videos, with an image editor that makes taking pictures and shooting videos a piece of cake? Hey, it's got some better features then my iPhone! I want one! So go ahead and check this phone out - it's JUST COOL!

green :: a toast to the tree

Even though Christmas is officially over, I'm still in the Christmas Spirit, are you? And getting ready to celebrate the New Year at the end of the week, too! So what's more apropos then this clever Christmas Tree created by the Heineken Beer Company? This gargantuan green glass (and all these bottles are full too!) Christmas Tree stands at the front of the Nanjing road mall in Shanghai.

Heineken has always been clever with its beer bottles; Warren has written how in the sixties they considered redesigning them to work as bricks. Now in China, they are using them to build Christmas trees - right now these bottles are full - yet soon to be recycled (I wonder how this tree will be looking at midnight on New Years Eve?!)  How JUST COOL!

technology::a best last minute gift!

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Yamaha. All opinions are 100% mine.

I can't believe there are only four days left until Christmas. Today I am doing my MAJOR shopping (yes, I am a procrastinator!) and I'm searching the web for some unique ideas. Was I happy when I found this Yamaha PDX-60 Speaker Dock. This nifty dock lets you experience your iPhone/iPod through it's powerful speaker system with no sound delays while easily enjoying all of your favorite games, music and movies...wirelessly! Infact I would love this for myself - but I have several iPhone people on my list that I know would love it too! With the powerful Yamaha PDX-60 Speaker Dock we'll be able to enjoy media wirelessly from anywhere in the room. The exclusive Yamaha yAired (tm) wireless technology connects you quickly and with no sound delays. The sound is high quality too with deep, rich bass. I use my iphone for all kinds of multi media tasking - like watching videos on youtube, playing my sons rpg game, Ravensword, watching tv and movies on Hulu and listening to Pandora as well as listening to my own music files on my iPod.So this is a definite MUST HAVE. And did I mention that it is easy to use?Just a few of it's great features include a speaker that can be placed in any out-of-the-way location, easy operation (auto power on/off and volume control sync), a transmitter unit that is small enough that you can carry the iPod/iPhone around and talk on the iPhone with the transmitter attached, a cradle for setting the iPod/iPhone on a table, etc.. Your iPod can charge from both speaker and cradle and has a card-type remote unit that is convenient for your iPod operation. Plus it has low power consumption and it looks good too with four color variations to match your iPod and room.Okay I have convinced myself and have made the shopping a lot easier. I'll get one for each of the iPhone/iPod people on my list and I'm covered. I'll be well loved too ;) because the Yamaha PDX-60 Speaker Dock is JUST COOL and makes the perfect gift!

gardening :: thrifty and nifty

What a nifty idea! And a great gift I think for the gardener in your life OR for your own garden!

I wish I had a patch of garden that I could "plant" these in but my yard is shaded by big maple trees. :(

But fret not, these markers are great for pot gardens as well as indoor house plants too. The Etsy shop called Monkeys Always Look makes these wonderful aged markers from neglected old silver plate flatware, turning it into something new and useful. Repurpose, reuse. LOVE THAT! These are JUST COOL!

fashion:: holding on to the seventies

If you're as old as me you certainly remember the stylish neckties of the seventies! You know... those wide polyester ties with the big bold patterns? I love how fellow etsian andsometimesy has upcycled them into these cute clutches and wallets. Dotted with funky vintage buttons too. Sweet and very JUST COOL!

oh...and plus they look smashing against that chartreuse dress ;)

transportation::what a bunch of bull

Yet another reason why they have to bring motor vehicle inspection back in Oklahoma - to keep bulls from riding down the road.

This bull was caught in the act riding in his owners car by off duty police officer Donald Kraft. According to Kraft's report the driver was transporting the bull so that his daughter could ride it in the National History Day parade in Tulsa (see the letters stamped on the side of the bull). These pictures snapped by the officer are no bull either. It's a true story - bringing a new meaning to "pimp my ride" ...

design :: simple pots

Presentation is everything and this photo sure makes these simple minimalist pots look like something very special. And they are! Bambinas are super cute handmade pastel/white colored vessels, slipcast from Matauri Bay clay , native to New Zealand where the maker Zakiah Heath calls home.

The wee Bambinas are double cast and high fired, then sanded and left unglazed. They look beautiful on their own or in a cluster, perfect for a dinner table, mantle or window ledge. They can also be used with a tealight candle inside or as a vase. Each Bambina measures approximately 10cm in diameter. $26. Find them at  Zakiah's Popkraft Etsy Shop.

Lovely! And JUST COOL!

food::eating fast

In a quandry about where to grab your next fast food meal? With so many different fast food places out there,  the decision can be tough. But Eating the Road comes to the rescue with it's carefully thought out (and amusing as well)  flowchart that makes navigating the fast food chain a piece of cake. It's based on queries like “Are you drunk?”, “Do you have more than $3” and "Is it Sunday?". If you can follow the maze of questions it will direct you to your best fast food restaurant choice. Is it accurate? Well...if you live out in the sticks like I do, it isn't . Damn, we need a Chick-Filet around here. And a DQ, a Sonic, a White Castle ......

Still it's fun and JUST COOL!

holiday decorating : o xmas tree!

Okay, I know I just posted a few days back about a cool looking Christmas Tree I saw on etsy. Well here I am again with another neat Tree idea. Hmmmm...don't know what it is about Christmas trees... I just love them! In all shapes, colors and sizes ;)

From fellow etsian Middleburg's shop - Winter Night Trees set of three.

"These remind me of dusk in the winter, when trees look so dark, cool and green against the white snow. Made of heavy-weight muslin, hand-cut and dyed. Reclaimed wood is used for these bases which have been white washed. These are signed pieces. Mix or match them with our other style trees for an eclectic, country look in your home this holiday season."  $84.

Christmas greenery that is JUST COOL!
