Gadgets :: wii keeps them young

I'm one of those who drags their feet when it comes to Christmas shopping. Maybe it's because I've always been a procrastinator or maybe it's because I love the thrills and chills you get on December 24th, when racing through the mall trying to finish that last minute shopping - for the last six people on your list. Whatever it is, I've decided to buckle down this year and start early. Wii Games are a biggy on the list this year. Lots of kids, teenagers and even adults love playing the Wii. Heck, even old lady "moi" has been caught indulging in a game or two with my grandson Aven. But actually this great interactive game is beneficial for older people too, (okay I'm not really THAT old! ) and keeps them young. Case in point -

When 84 year old Nancy Davies, living in a retirement community, defeated real-life bowling champion Hal Winters, 79 in a game of bowling it was at a Wii Sports tournament in the nation's capital. While Winters has been bowling for most of his life, and had even won a bowling tournament earlier this year, Davies, who's only experience was working behind the snack bar in a bowling alley, blew him away with just one year of Wii practice. The DC area retirement center received the Wii units in March 2007, and it instantly became a hit. Now the Senior Center is hosting hockey and shooting tournaments.
Now I think that is wonderful!- I'm making up my own Wii Wish List for Santa right now - Wii is JUST COOL!

cool product :: retro telephone meets iphone

Not to forget about the past, YUBZ has created a collection of classic retro telephone handsets to resemble what we use to love in communication and fitted them to todays number one communication technology, the cell phone.

The handsets are fun, playful and with lots of funky accessories to add to their basic handset , a must have for the top of your Christmas wish list. For the 70's Donald Trump in you, Yubz even concocted a gaudy golden version for a mere $50. It's available for pre-order and will be out in the stores (Spencers?) mid November.

decor :: Funky folksy domino

When it comes to decorative art, BIG will always catch your eye. Sure, I love my houses small, but I like my art big. I think oversized accessories always make a grand statement. Does that make me fickle? Naaaaaaaaaa..... just eclectic.

And a little JUST COOL!

Check out this oversized domino box at Wisteria. Handpainted and made of south pine lumber, it mimics the naive simplicity of 1920s folk art. A cool cache for all your tiny game pieces or whatever...

cool product :: taking the clutter out of clutter

What's this? It's the sleek polished steel Mirror Box designed by TOOLS DESIGN that's multi-functional design combines a collapsible mirror and storage inside to hide all your everday baubles, your makeup or if you're a guy, all your shaving needs. I like it's minimalist look that keeps the clutter from looking cluttered!

Figures that we all like it so much - its another JUST COOL design from Eva Solo!

cool product :: noisy pillow

I was thinking about this the other day and wondering if anyone had invented it yet. It's so simple and so obvious. A pillow with an Ipod in it! Great for lulling yourself or your child to sleep. Getting some quick hypnosis in ;) , relaxing to an audio book or just power napping with some calming music. So I looked and it was. Invented. I found a few of them - some ugly sports logo neckroll ipod ones and then this soft fluffy cute one that comes in four colors - all over at Amazon.com. They're great for long trips, car or plane, too!

Cool Plush Ipod Travel Pillow

Hey, it's another multifunctional wonder! YAY!!

lighting :: glowing candles. Are they real?

What will they think of next? I was at a friends the other night having dinner and after, went to blow out the candles and to my amazement, when I looked a little closer, they weren't real at all but battery operated imitations! I'm sure alot of you are familiar with these, but I wasn't , and I must admit I was HIGHLY impressed. They smell good - these had a subtle vanilla scent - and they look good. Real wax on the outside. Even the flickering "candlelight" had that glowing ambience that candles are all about! So I put these down on my GOTTA HAVE IT list. These candles are JUST COOL.
