iphone :: capture a color!

When was the last time you saw a color that you loved, wanted, just had to have to paint a room or a piece of furniture? It happens to me all the time! Now you can use the ben® Color Capture™ app for iPhone where you just take a photo of the "thing" you like the color of, and it finds that coordinating color in the Benjamin Moore Paint Line. The app even goes beyond that to find the best coordinating colors, where to find a dealer and more. I always use Benjamin Moore anyway because the paint has great coverage and their colors are the best, so I downloaded the app and am i appy! Love this app! It's brilliantly JUST COOL!

Interior :: Fall Color Contest

Well it's over. Apartment Therapy and CB2's Fourth Annual Fall Color Contest closed it's design entry doors last week and there are a ton of great entries to choose the winner from. The "Naboo" stool is a stylishly colorful design from Bulgarian architect , Ivan Arnaudov, who after eight years in the architectural industry, took a detour from his architectural career, and ventured out onto the the highway of furniture design. From the looks of these hip seating creations I think his route choice was right on, don't you? His racey, multicolored, abstract friendly designs are eye candy for any modern interior. trends :: colorspotting 2009

Just WHO are the color pickers behind Pantone Inc. , that color guru of the design industry that every designer pays homage to? I have no clue but here is the color palette they've chosen for Spring 2009. What do you think? I'm thinking these colors are very retro 50's 60's-ish which doesn't surprise me. So take a look and as tula over at whorange puts it " commit them to memory. paint your home, adjust your wardrobe, and purchase your panty shades appropriately. act quickly to impress your friends and neighbors."

Or be like me. Appreciate their color effort but do whatever color you like! It's JUST COOL!

Interior - the color purple

Some call it Lilac, Iris, Mauve, Violet, Lavender, Heather, Aubergine, Grape, Plum, Eggplant, and Iris. But most of us call the color, PURPLE!

it can be dramatic
and timeless



modernesque

and playful.

In fact, it's as schizophrenic as it can make you feel ( read The pitfalls of the purple room).

Growing up, my two daughters pined for purple rooms. I may have too, but that was way too long ago for me to remember! There's just something about purple. The French have a way with it, bringing out it's regal elegance and it's playful charm. Combined with tarnished gold and lively pinks or softened with whites and just a hint of palest green, it can be dramatic in either a traditionally formal or modern artsy interior.

It's no wonder that Pantone selected one of their purples, the color Blue Iris (PANTONE 18-3943) as the 2008 Color of the Year .

My opinion on purple? In small doses it can be JUST COOL!
