cool product :: garden indoors with lightpot

Loving this "lightpot" from designers Kfir Schwalb and Orit Magia of Studio Shulab . It uses eco friendly, energy saving LED lighting to grow plants, herbs - any pot adaptable vegetation anywhere in the house. And no matter what kind of lighting conditions you have too because it provides the light. I'd like a few of these around the house filled with kitchen herbs. Let there be light... AND pleasant aromas wafting through the air!
These lightpots are JUST COOL!

lighting :: modern two lamps

Okay, here I go again with my penchant for multifunctional anythings. "Two Lamps" is not just anything though - it functions as both lamp AND flashlight. So modern, so cool looking, so helpful in a power outage and so glowing as a lamp on your bedside table. What a clever idea!

Hmmm... I wonder if it uses energy efficient bulbs and is that flashlight rechargeable? Its over at Life Goods and its JUST COOL!

cool product :: package lamp by David Gardner

Wait, don't throw away that package. Thats the lamp!

If you order a lamp from David Gardener, what you get is an empty box. Well not exactly empty. It does have packaging in it - hand molded paper pulp packaging. But the packaging is actually the lamp itself!

Once opened, your "packaging" components are removed and assembled and the packaging becomes the shade and stand. The components that make up the lamp (wire, bulbs etc.) dictate the lamps shape, so as to fit them conveniently into the base during transit.

“The Packaging lamp was first inspired from my observations of how much packaging material is wasted from every new product bought,” explains Gardener. “The idea is to eliminate this waste material by including it all in the final product.”

Gardener, a University of Brighton graduate, presented the design at New Designers in London last month.

Lovin' the handmade paper look to this lamp but the safety is questionable. Will it burn down the house? Anyway - this concept is JUST COOL!

YOU ARE NOT ALONE

Kind of creepy. Like someone is watching your every move. But this lamp is still JUST COOL.
My grandfather used to shoot rattlesnakes up on Schunnemunk Mountain (pronounced skunnymunk) in the NY Catskills. He saved their rattles and artfully mounted their mosaic patterned skins on boards over the studio doorways. We kids (back then) used to get a kick out of his rattle snake collection. Pretty weird, huh?

Ra desk lamp by Ettore Cimini

Weird too is the Ra desk lamp. Not your run of the mill desk lamp in terms of visual value. Like the rattlesnake, its artificial vertebrae design rattles loudly on my aesthetic scale.

Created by designer Ettore Cimini, you can get one for a measley USD$2000. Consider it an investment it art.
