iPhone :: goes midcentury modern

I bet half of my readers , maybe even you, have never used a real live rotary telephone before .You know...the one with that round dial with holes in it that click click clicks when you dial the number? Well now here's your chance because there's an app that gives you that old fashioned rotary phone experience on your iphone and it really works. About the iRetroPhone, Saul Hansell (NY Times - Bits Blog) wrote: "...the goofiest $2.99 I’ve spent so far, draws an old-fashioned rotary dial on the screen." You can dial it yourself or simply click on one of your contacts and watch it dial for you. Check out iRetroPhone in the ITunes store - on sale for a limited time only - just 99 cents and... JUST COOL!

cool product :: retro telephone meets iphone

Not to forget about the past, YUBZ has created a collection of classic retro telephone handsets to resemble what we use to love in communication and fitted them to todays number one communication technology, the cell phone.

The handsets are fun, playful and with lots of funky accessories to add to their basic handset , a must have for the top of your Christmas wish list. For the 70's Donald Trump in you, Yubz even concocted a gaudy golden version for a mere $50. It's available for pre-order and will be out in the stores (Spencers?) mid November.

telephone call :: who was that??

Ever needed to find out who belonged to, or where a telephone number came from? It happens a lot to me. I'll see a call on my caller ID that I missed while I was out, with no name and wonder who it was that called. Or I'll be going through old scraps of paper on my desk or in my purse, with just a telephone number scratched on them. Its frustrating, not knowing who these numbers belong to.

Thanks to the wonders of modern technology and the internet, help has arrived. I found an excellent resource on the web that, when you type in the telephone number, it will provide the first and last name, street address, city, and state of the owner. It's called Reverse Phone Book Lookup.

The website, called 50statephonebook.org, also has additional reverse phone book services like tracer reports, background checks, an article library and more. It has lots of information that you're sure to find handy. So check it out!

technology :: phone investigator

The past month I've been having one unknown number come up on my telephone. On the caller ID it says unknown, so since I screen my calls, I don't answer it. After many calls though, it's getting annoying. I am sure it is a telemarketer. So I found a really cool website that you can go to for Phone Number Info. It is just that. You type in any number and it checks through the database and reports if others have entered that number. Was it a sales call, wrong number, or a crank call? They leave their comments to let you know. Cool huh? This recently launched project is another new convenience for us and you can find it at Phone Lookup Investigator.

Oh and by the way I found the source of the call there, it was a survey company for Qwest.
